Head of the 50 Leading Law Firms of Ukraine annual research program

For years we have observed the active transition of practicing lawyers into bodies of power like the Parliament, Cabinet of Ministers, Presidential Administration, Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, High Judicial Qualifications Commission, individual ministries and state-owned enterprises. Many of them continue to work successfully in the state field, while some of them returned to the market and focused on restoring the reputation of their firms.

2017 is noted for judicial reform, including the formation of a new Supreme Court. The professional community has still to evaluate whether lawyers and scientists who have passed the unprecedented competitive selection and become judges of the Supreme Court will be able to fulfil themselves in a new role. However, the impact of such migration on the legal market is already obvious. This can be seen both in changing the positions of individual players who have lost key specialists, and unorthodox personnel and organizational decisions.
